The Buck Knives 286 Bantam BHW Folding Knife - Black is the largest of the Bantam lines of knives, and features a mid-lockback design, ridges at the top for added grip and lanyard hold for easy attachment. Lockback folding knives have a mechanism that look the blade in the open position, activated by opening the blade all the way. A lockback gets its name from a rocker partially visible on top of the knife. Opening the blade causes the rocker to lock against the blade, so it looks open. Pushing down on the rocker on top of the handle releases it and enables the user to close the blade.

One hand opening, has a thumb stud, blade hole or other feature to facilitate one hand use. 420HC Steel is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon allows while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat treat process, and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability.
