The Luminox XL.1003 Ice-Sar Arctic Men's Watch features a small self-luminous "gaslamp" made by a top Swiss Institute for Lightning Components Mb-Microtec. These individual lamps (Boros capsules) are gently incorporated into the hands, markers and in case of diving watches also to the rotating bezel. The lifetime of Luminox illumination LLT is up to 25 years and 100 times brighter than conventional watches.
Watches marked with water tightness 200M/20ATM are designed for swimming, snorkelling, and diving with breathing apparatus. 200M/20ATM indicates the degree of water resistance standardized by ISO 6425. ISO tests include temperature changes, depth, pressure (water and air) for different times under rest and during manipulation with the operative part of the watch. The dive models subsequently perform the test of resistance to salt water and the ability to cope with the watch positive pressure (decompression simulation).
Sapphire glass in the watch was made in a laboratory by melting aluminium oxide (Al2O3) in the presence of hydrogen and oxygen at 2000 °C. After crystallisation into the corundum 'pear', it's cut and further processed into the desired shape and size. Sapphire glass is the hardest glass used in watches. It would be second behind diamond on the scale of mineral hardness, so it can only be scratched by diamond. Its only disadvantage is its fragility.
The carbon case gives not only a sporting and dynamic touch but also creates a long-lasting and extremely durable strap with a significantly increased lifespan.
