The best feature about this light is its different colour types, the amber colour helps improve contrast and does not degrade scotopic or night-adapted vision, the blue light clearly defines shapes outdoors and helps identify blood and hydraulic fluid. The red light improves contrast and aids in reading read-light-readable topographic maps, and the yellow/green colour is complementary to the colour spectrum used in most aircraft cockpits.
